Capacitive and electric field sensing techniques of varying complexity are
in use in a number of applications within the defence sector.
Sensatech are working on a landmine detection project based on non-contact
impedance tomography which could provide improvements for civil reclamation
after conflict by possibly easing the task of locating buried explosive mines
such that they can be rendered harmless with reduced risk to people working in
mine clearance.
