Proximity Detection Analogue - Sensing Applications
> Home > Applications > Proximity detection
| Similar to simple proximity
switch in that the term describes a sensor which detects when objects are near,
analog devices give feedback as to distance from the sensor. |
|
This may be in a standard industrial format of 4-20mA or 0-10V or in some
other format.
Sensors may have varying accuracy and may be used for general indication of
distance such as in the case of collision avoidance with objects at 2m, to
accurate gap detection in the micron or sub micron range.
Sensatech have experience using highly developed capacitive sensors for gap
measurement.
It is also possible to use sensors based on this capacitive principle to
detect thickness of various items, for example thickness of paint over a metal
body panel. |
